The surface of the cardiac muscle is covered with pericardium, and the pericardial cavity is structured at the base of the large vein.

The cardiac muscle is covered with flexible pericardium serosum but is poor in elasticity. The Pericardial cavity between the cardiac muscle and pericardium contains retention fluid however by traumatic damage, blood flow into pericardial cavity. Since it cannot be expanded immediately, the chamber ventricle is prevented from expansion. As a result cardiac output is decreased and the patient’s pathological condition become worse. For preventing this vital conditions, the pericardiocentesis is performed using a metal perforation needle or disposable needle, pig tail catheter or balloon catheter.
